Spicerack, the interactive creative agency based at Bristol’s creative hub, Paintworks, has officially acquired boutique application and website development agency Stylefoundry.
Spicerack began its professional practice in 2010. Success has stemmed much from the referrals of our clients and other professional working relationships. We decided to seek to grow the agency because we believe that a combined, larger agency will allow us to provide more depth, and a more full-service business, particularly on the technology side, which is Stylefoundry’s key heritage.
Spicerack undertook a short search within the Bristol area looking for an opportunity like this, before this partnering was conceived. The 2 businesses have been working together since Spicerack’s inception. Prior to that, Stylefoundry’s founder Justin Boynton and Spicerack’s founder Dave Harrison were both board directors and shareholders at digital agency Profero (now Lowe Profero) for many years. They have worked together successfully therefore in a similar parallel for 17 years; a significant factor.
Justin is a highly experienced technology expert who has spent the past 13 years working with SME, Blue Chip and start-up business clients. As Technical Director at Profero for 7 years Justin was responsible for the global technical team and IT infrastructure, as well as the development of the group’s ad-serving software. After leaving Profero, Justin founded Stylefoundry. He has worked in a Technical Director role for a number of start-up businesses including Ready To Air and Web TV Enterprise, as well as in an advisory role to a number of internet businesses. His client experience includes work for Mercedes Benz, Singapore Airlines, WHICH, M&C Saatchi and Electronic Arts.
Spicerack MD Zia Namooya commented, “Spicerack are well established in the digital creative industry for our work on campaigns for clients including Rimmel London, Calvin Klein, Under Armour and Science in Sport. Less known is our high-end development work, a growing side of the business over the past 18 months, working with clients including the global trendspotting agency Future Foundation, and Property Wishes. For the level of technical proficiency demanded of us, we often call upon Justin’s team. As Stylefoundry have similarly found themselves requiring more creative expertise, the combining of the 2 businesses is a logical progression.”
Stylefoundry MD Justin Boynton said, “When Zia and Dave approached me with their offer, the two businesses had been working together on a large project for some months without break. The way the 2 businesses have complemented each others’ strengths has much to do with my parallel career history with Dave, that has seen us calling upon each others’ experience time and again for many years.”
Spicerack Founder and ECD Dave Harrison said, “Justin’s team and Spicerack work brilliantly together, and Justin’s technical experience in online communication projects is immense. We’re very like-minded in how we like to work with clients to build long-lasting relationships – it really is a great match.”
Our main office will remain at Bristol’s growing creative hub, Paintworks, whilst the (previously Stylefoundry) office will remain where it is, due to key clients and the domestic location of their team.
