If you’ve heard of Web Summit, but never been, I’d consider coming in 2020. Justin and I attended the entire 2019 event, and enjoyed both the daytime speakers and the organised nightlife immensely. Lisbon is a welcoming, vibrant city with a very unique identity and Web Summit is an enormous beast. Yet even with 70,000+ attendees this year, it manages to integrate with the city brilliantly, despite the scale.
Forbes describes Web Summit as: “the best technology conference on the planet”; The Atlantic that Web Summit is: “where the future goes to be born”; and The New York Times: “a grand conclave of the tech industry’s high priests.”
The event itself has something for everyone; whether you’re here for inspiring talks from global leaders in their field, looking for investment or partners and clients, this seems to be the place to be. The night time activities are equally impressive, with Web Summit taking over different sections of the city for 2 consecutive nights. With the event being such an enormous boost to the economy each year, you’re likely to feel very welcome as you roam, despite the massive influx of lanyards.
